The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts Doix 1er Cru has an odd, slightly lactic bouquet at first, but improves with aeration; it feels slightly East Asian in style. The palate is fleshy and quite oaky, very New World, with a simple, slightly shallow finish. I find this mercurial and difficult to pin down. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
